    PLEASE don't FORWARD THIS INFORMATION

Hi everybody !!! sometimes in life we have to take a stand and also be involved and fight against stupidity and non respect of the human race. SO PLEASE , PLEASE , PLEASE FORWARD THIS INFORMATION. thanks. WENDY PLEASE FORWARD Please forward this to as many people as possible! Fuji Co. has removed Israel from its complimentary world map that they give to their customers with a purchase. Yes, in Fuji stores abroad you receive the world map without Israel!!! According to Fuji, Israel just doesn't exist... It is most likely done to entice Arab customers. That map without Israel makes Arabs happy, very happy... It is a very dangerous precedent - it looks like an indication that Arab calls for boycott of Israel start bearing fruits. Many Israelis today called for boycott of all Fuji products - film, cameras, batteries etc. (see readers responses in Yediot Aharonot). Luckily - there are alternatives: film- Kodak, Agfa, Konika, cameras - Nikon, Olympus, Samsung, Cannon etc. This Fuji's action is the worst possible insult against Israel, and, until they apologize and reprint the map, we should all never buy anything made by Fuji. Please spread the word around - Jewish buying power can do wonders. Even 3-5% reduction in Fuji's sales could cause them to reconsider.> Also important to note - Subaru is Fuji. And the same approach should be applied

If this is true, I would certainly boycott Fuji myself. Can you privide any references for your statements? Where else can I read that this is indeed true? II

I got email from Israeli friend with this info. Can't proof anything. I never bought Fuji anyway. I just think it very possible as I saw couple of other maps and globes where Israel doesn't exists and also I don't think somebody will start this kind of action if he doesn't have real proof.

It's just so hard to believe that a major corporation would leave out an entire country on purpose. Yes, is true that Arabs hold some sort of power in the world but hey, so do Jews. Don't believe me? Look in any major city phone book and look under "Physicians", "Lawyers", etc.. You'll see over half the entries there are Jews....so it's odd to me that such a big corporation would purposely piss off such a group of people. Well anyway thanks for posting this Einat. II

I think referring to more reliable sources rather than chain letters and a thought that "nobody would start this with no proof" would do good. Here is the link: http://www.wiesenthal.com/social/press/pr_item.cfm?ItemId=5203 Also it is very old "news", dated February-March 2002. And here is a copy of the chain letter: http://www.breakthechain.org/exclusives/fujimap.html

Yes, we cure people, protect them, teach them :) and still majority of the world is against us. Isn't that strange?:( Alesha, Thank you very much for the sources. I appreciate.

The article I just postted mentioned that the map had been produced by a third party (and who knows what it was?). Anyway refraining from buying Fuji products (the best film in the world in my opinion) would be unreasonable: to be consistant they should have abstained from buying IBM computers and using arabic digits - for the same reason. Also let's not read Dostoevskij, Shakespeare and many others since they have been antisemitic. To me this is a very maximalistic point of view.

I couldn't help myself not to reply. Being myself an amateur/prof. photographer and dealing through my engineering experience with Fuji Heavy Industries I want to provide you some information to correct post above 1) First of all is mistake to confuse Fuji Heavy Industries/Subaru with Fujifilm. Those are two radically different companies. An excerpt from Subaru officials. "Subaru of America, Inc. is deeply troubled that a few misinformed individuals would link our organization to such an unacceptable practice. We would greatly appreciate your assistance in informing the public of this erroneous information" Best wishes, Sandi Parente-Geiges Subaru of America, Inc 2) Secon issue. What about the map? Fujifilm told Snopes.com that they have not produced, distributed or sanctioned such a map. Their statement explains that a third party produced a calendar that includes the map in question and used the Fujifilm logo without permission. The company took quick action to stop the distribution of the calendar. Statement by Fujifilm The reason why I wanted to verify this misinformation is that I am myself have a very great respect to Fuji product. Their professional line of product, films like Provia, Sensia, Reala, Astia, NPS/NPC are not even close comparison to products from Kodak, BASF, AGFA, ORVO and others in color reproduction. Most of the National Geographic prints and films are taken on Fuji's product. Therefore, I was really surprised to hear this from such a respectable company in film industry. Well, as everyone else today, Fujifilm outsources their advertisement media. And it sometimes very difficult to control who stays behind those small adv./printing houses. But they stopped the wrongdoing. So, as we say in Russian: "Доверяя - Проверяй"

Ye, never belive in chain letters. Anyhow, the thing is - Japan is the most antisemitic country in the world ( not counting arabs). But their definition of a jew is different - at one point they called chinise jew ;) Very confused people .... " Life - is a beautiful thing "

Thanks, this is a good answer indeed. I'll forward it ... I will switch to Fuji products from now on ... :) Alesha, As you can see in this case this small action did changed something, it probably caused this big Fuji corporation to respond. May be sometime it's better to overreact then not to react at all. I would never suggest to boycot Dostoevski someone like Shevchenko probably would. And Kostia, If you wouldn't moderator I would allert moderator regarding you posts. Could you please be so kind and choose better way to reply on topics without insulting it. It's a general remark for all your recent actions as a moderator. I think you have problem with you ego. Take care of it.

I agree with every one of Kostya's words. Not only do these myths waste everyone's time, but they also cry "Wolf!" too many times. When a real problem occurs the world will simply discard it as a joke or rumor. --Fimchick
